About Jonelle

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For more than 25 years Jonelle has taught and encouraged musicians through her private violin studio, Sequoia Strings. She uses an individualized approach to support students of all ages, abilities and goals, ensuring every learner finds their unique voice.

 

Jonelle specializes in building a strong foundation for young beginners through pre-collegiate level. Her pedagogical approach includes incorporating Suzuki and traditional elements, using ear training, bowing technique, sight reading, duets and various solo repertoire.

​​​​Highlights:

  • Rotary Distinguished Educator: in recognition for exceptional teaching and inspirational guidance of the students of Boise.  

  • ​​​Up With People world tour: 12 months performing throughout the continental United States, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.

  • BM | Music Education (Bachelor of Music Education​​)

 

​PERFORMING

As a freelance violinist, Jonelle's path is one of quiet devotion - an open hearted approach to music that has connected her with a passionate community of welcoming musicians.

 

She is a founding member of Boise Baroque Orchestra and performs with Oregon East Symphony in Pendleton, Cantus Choir and Orchestra and has joined groups for performances at iconic concert halls including:

  • The Kennedy Center (DC)​​

  • ​Sydney Opera House 

  • Carnegie Hall (New York)

Additional playing experience includes private events with her group Sequoia String Quartet, Cathedral of the Rockies, McCall MusicFest and Opera Idaho.

 

BUILDING COMMUNITY 

As a wife, mother and dedicated advocate for community, Jonelle regularly contributes her violin talents and leadership skills to community organizations and events including:

FAQ's 



Sequoia Strings FAQ  

Violin lessons are offered once a week at a time reserved in advance.

Monthly tuition is due at the first violin lesson of each month via cash or check.

Monthly tuition rates range from $100 - $250.

Missed violin lessons are not deducted from your tuition payment(s).​​

Any lesson may be held virtually during your regular time slot in lieu of a cancellation.

Students are expected to follow a weekly home practice schedule.

 

Sequoia Strings follows the Boise Public Schools vacation and holiday schedule during the school year.

Lessons are offered in Spring, Summer and Fall.

Students are encouraged to join the National Federation of Music Clubs.

​Students are encouraged to attend their neighborhood school orchestra concerts.
